Terms and Conditions

The service
Shiplog provides tools to create apps, publish product updates, host public changelog pages, embed an updates widget into your own products, and access a REST API on Pro plans. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.
Accounts
You sign in with GitHub or email through Better Auth. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything that happens under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use Shiplog, and you must be at least 16 years old.
Plans and payments
Shiplog offers a free tier and paid plans sold as one-time purchases (Starter and Pro). Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and handles taxes where required. A successful purchase grants the plan features permanently, as described on the pricing page at the time of purchase. If an order is refunded, the associated plan may be revoked. Feature availability per plan may change for future purchases but is honored for purchases already made.
Your content
You own the content you publish (app details, updates, and branding assets). You grant us the rights needed to store, display, and distribute that content through the service, including on your public changelog pages and through your embedded widgets. You are responsible for the content you publish and for having the rights to it. This includes content created or published through the API, including by automated agents acting on your behalf.
Public pages and visitor content
Public changelog pages and widget content are created and controlled by the app owner, not by us. We do not review or endorse hosted content and are not responsible for what app owners publish. If you believe hosted content is unlawful or harmful, contact us and we will review it.
Copyright
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on Shiplog infringes your copyright, notify us at the contact below and we will remove or disable access to the infringing material as appropriate. Repeat infringers may lose access to the service.
Acceptable use
- No unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or infringing content.
- No abuse of the service, including attempts to disrupt, probe, or overload it.
- No use of the widget or public pages to distribute malware or spam.
- No misrepresentation of your identity or affiliation.
We may suspend or remove accounts and content that violate these terms.
Widget and embeds
The widget script is licensed for embedding in products you own or control, tied to your app's widget key. Do not attempt to extract private data, misuse another app's key, or resell access to the service.
Free plans display "Powered by Shiplog" attribution on public changelog pages and embedded widgets. Paid plans may hide it in settings. Do not remove or obscure the attribution by other means.
API access
API keys let scripts and coding agents create and manage changelog updates on your behalf. Keys are tied to your account and plan. Keep them secret: you are responsible for how your keys are used and for the content agents create or publish with them, including content you did not review before publication. We enforce rate limits and may suspend keys that are abused. You can revoke a key at any time in settings.
Intellectual property
Shiplog's name, logo, and brand assets are our property. You may not use them in your own branding or marketing without permission.
Availability
We aim to keep Shiplog fast and reliable, but the service is provided "as is" without an uptime guarantee or SLA. Features may evolve over time. We will try to announce breaking changes in advance.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Termination
You may stop using Shiplog at any time, and you can request account deletion via the contact below. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or to protect the service and other users. Sections that should survive termination (content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification) do.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shiplog is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or the price of your one-time plan if greater.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims and expenses, including legal fees, arising out of your content or your use of the service in violation of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada, excluding conflict of law rules.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always posted here. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
