Shiplog

A lightweight indie focused app for changelogs, in one place.

v1.15.0 Nov 3, 2026

API access for coding agents

feature

Pro plans can now create API keys so agents like Cursor, Claude Code, and Devin can draft and publish changelog updates through a new REST API. Settings also gained a reorganized layout with a sticky sidebar.

New

  • REST API (`/api/v1`): your agent can list apps and updates, create and edit entries, and publish or unpublish them. Bearer-key auth, JSON in and out
  • API keys in Settings: Pro plans generate sk_ keys from a new API access section, up to 10 active at a time. Each key is shown once at creation and can be revoked instantly
  • Agent setup prompt: a copyable block in Settings documents every endpoint, the markdown subset, and the category list, ready to paste into Cursor, Claude Code, Devin, or Windsurf. Keys load from the SHIPLOG_API_KEY env var, never pasted into chat
  • Draft-first by default: creating an update over the API returns a draft plus an editUrl for human review; publishing stays an explicit call
  • Settings redesign: sections reorganized under clearer groupings with a sticky sidebar on wide screens

Security and limits

  • Keys are SHA-256 hashed at rest; plaintext never reaches the database
  • 500 requests/day and 30/minute per key, and a key can only ever reach your changelog data: never billing or account info
  • Field-length caps reject oversized payloads before they hit the database

Improved

  • Landing and pricing pages now highlight agent API access as a Pro differentiator
  • Terms and privacy policy cover API access

Fixed

  • The revoke-key confirmation dialog now closes properly after revoking
v1.14.0 Nov 2, 2026

Widget options and a programmable API

feature

The embed widget now supports position, launcher, trigger, and accent color options plus Shiplog.open/close/toggle, and update rendering was hardened against XSS.

New

  • Widget init options: Shiplog.init accepts position ('bottom-left' moves the launcher so it stops colliding with chat bubbles), hideLauncher, trigger (open the panel from your own button via a CSS selector), and accentColor (a hex color that tints the launcher, unread bars, and focus rings)
  • Programmatic API: Shiplog.open(), Shiplog.close(), and Shiplog.toggle() control the panel from your own code; calls made before init are queued until the widget mounts
  • Options reference: the widget install page now documents every option in a full reference table, and every install snippet carries commented placeholders

Fixed

  • Embed hardening: widget update items are now DOM-built with textContent instead of interpolated HTML, closing a stored-XSS surface in the embedded panel
  • Re-init cleanup: document listeners are removed on re-init instead of leaking one pair per navigation

Improved

  • Pricing copy: plan feature lists now match across the landing page, pricing page, and dashboard upgrade hints
v1.13.0 Nov 2, 2026

Changelog themes and custom colors

feature

Public changelogs can now switch between dark and light themes, and Starter and Pro can set custom accent, header, card, and text colors per app.

New

  • Changelog themes: each app's public page can now switch between the aurora (dark) and daylight (light) themes, free on every plan
  • Custom theme colors: Starter and Pro can override the accent, header, card, and text colors per app
  • Appearance settings: app settings gains an Appearance card with theme swatches, color pickers, and a live preview

Improved

  • Legal pages: the privacy policy and terms were expanded with clearer coverage of analytics, payments, and reader tracking
  • Analytics reliability: PostHog events now route through edge redirects, fixing dropped client-side events in production
v1.12.0 Nov 2, 2026

Maintenance and reliability improvements

improvement

A behind-the-scenes pass on reliability and internals.

What changed

A maintenance release focused on Shiplog internals:

  • Reliability improvements across sign-in, settings, and dashboard flows
  • Updated dependencies and internal tooling
  • Assorted small fixes behind the scenes

Nothing changes on your end.

v1.11.0 Oct 30, 2026

Widget deep links and dashboard polish

feature

Clicking a widget update now opens your public changelog at that exact update, plus an unsaved-changes guard, delete confirmations, and a round of dashboard UX polish.

New

  • Widget deep links: clicking an update in the embedded widget opens your public changelog in a new tab, scrolled right to that update. Items still mark as read on click.
  • Update permalinks: every changelog entry now has its own anchor URL, so you can link readers directly to a specific update.
  • Unsaved-changes guard: leaving the update editor with unsaved edits now asks whether you want to save, discard, or stay.
  • Delete confirmation: deleting an app now confirms first and makes clear the deletion is permanent.

Improved

  • Markdown links: links in update bodies now render as proper styled anchors everywhere, including the editor preview.
  • Read analytics: the widget tab lists your 5 most recently published updates, and stat blocks show skeletons while loading.
  • Recent updates: dashboard rows are clickable and show which app each update belongs to.
  • Settings polish: connected-provider badges no longer shift the profile card, the welcome template body has more room, and the {siteUrl} placeholder was retired in favor of plain shiplog.cc.
v1.10.0 Oct 30, 2026

Markdown toolbar and image embeds

feature

The update editor gains a formatting toolbar with keyboard shortcuts, and update bodies can now embed hosted images.

New

  • Formatting toolbar: bold, italic, headings, lists, links, images, inline code, and code blocks are one click or shortcut away (Cmd/Ctrl+B, I, K) in the update editor
  • Image embeds: ![alt](url) syntax now renders hosted images in the editor preview and on your public changelog
  • `{siteUrl}` placeholder: welcome templates can reference the Shiplog site URL; the default draft uses it to show off image support with a hosted illustration
v1.9.0 Oct 30, 2026

Welcome drafts showcase Markdown

improvement

The seeded first update now demonstrates Markdown, defaults to version 1.0.0, and points to the template settings from the editor.

New

  • Markdown showcase draft: the welcome update every new app starts with now arrives formatted, demonstrating headings, lists, bold, italic, inline code, and links
  • Draft hint banner: a dismissible banner on the first update's editor explains the draft is auto-generated and links to Settings, where Starter and Pro customize the template

Improved

  • Version default: welcome drafts now pre-fill version 1.0.0 instead of leaving the field empty
v1.8.0 Oct 30, 2026

Welcome drafts and button spinners

feature

Every new app starts with a drafted first update, Starter and Pro can customize it, and every action button now shows a spinner while it works.

New

  • Welcome update draft: creating an app seeds a drafted first update and drops you straight into the editor. Edit it or publish it as is; nothing goes public until you say so
  • First update template: Starter and Pro can customize the seeded copy once in Settings, so every future app starts with your own words. {appName} and {changelogUrl} placeholders fill in per app

Improved

  • Button spinners: every action button (save, publish, delete, sign in) now shows a spinner and disables while the request runs. No more guessing if a click landed or double-submitting a form
v1.7.0 Oct 30, 2026

Smarter slugs, legal pages, and dogfooding

improvement

Slug autofill with live availability checks, privacy and terms pages, an open widget API, and shiplog.cc now runs its own widget.

New

  • Slug autofill: app slugs generate from the app name as you type, with a live availability check and changelog URL preview
  • Legal pages: privacy policy and terms are live, linked from the footer
  • Widget nudge: a subtle landing-page callout invites visitors to try the live widget
  • Categories popover: the landing page shows the update category taxonomy

Improved

  • We eat our own cooking: shiplog.cc now embeds the Shiplog widget, the same one you'd install
  • Open widget API: widget feed and read endpoints are CORS-open so embeds work from any customer domain
  • Cleaner Convex logs: plan-gated stats are only queried when the plan actually includes them

Fixed

  • Install snippets referenced Shplog instead of Shiplog, which silently failed to initialize. Snippets copied before this fix need updating
v1.6.0 Oct 30, 2026

Branding controls and a sharper landing page

feature

Paid plans can now control the Powered by Shiplog badge, and the landing page gained checkout CTAs and real testimonials.

New

  • Branding toggle: Starter and Pro users can opt the Powered by Shiplog badge back in or out globally from settings
  • Locked-state hints: free plans see the toggle and what upgrading unlocks
  • Checkout CTAs: the landing pricing section now starts checkout directly
  • Testimonials: real user quotes on the landing page

Fixed

  • Branding preference now persists reliably across navigation and sessions
  • Widget preview respects the branding opt-in
v1.5.0 Oct 29, 2026

Public changelog analytics

feature

Read analytics now cover your public changelog page, not just the widget. See how many people actually read your updates.

New

  • Public page views: visits to your hosted changelog are tracked per unique reader per day
  • Analytics tabs: the Read analytics card splits stats into Widget and Public page so you can see where readers come from
  • Privacy-friendly: views use the same anonymous localStorage ID as the widget; no personal data collected

Improved

  • View tracking skips app owners, so your own visits don't inflate the numbers
v1.4.0 Oct 29, 2026

One-time pricing

announcement

Plans are now one-time purchases. Pay once, keep the features forever. Starter is $49 and Pro is $99, with automatic CAD pricing.

Subscriptions are gone. Shiplog plans are now a single payment, not another monthly bill.

What changed

  • One-time purchases: Starter is $49 USD ($69 CAD) and Pro is $99 USD ($139 CAD), paid once
  • Automatic currency: the pricing page detects CAD visitors and shows local pricing, with a manual USD/CAD toggle
  • Real feature gating: paid features like logo uploads and analytics are now enforced on the server, not just hidden in the UI
  • Downgrade protection: purchasing a plan won't clobber a higher plan you already own

Refunds revoke the plan automatically through Polar webhooks.

v1.3.0 Oct 29, 2026

A faster, sharper dashboard

improvement

A big experience upgrade: instant-feeling navigation, syntax-highlighted install snippets, a reworked widget page, app logos, and 10 update categories.

This release is all about making Shiplog feel fast and look sharp.

Improved

  • Faster navigation: a top progress bar, streamed server loads, and skeleton placeholders mean the dashboard paints instantly
  • Wider layout: dashboard content now spans up to 1440px on large screens
  • Apps page: new stats row and search filter across your apps
  • Update categories: expanded to 10 types including security, performance, integration, and deprecated, with a proper select component
  • Clickable rows: update rows and interactive elements now behave the way you expect
  • New logo: the new Shiplog mark is live across the app, changelog footer, and favicon

New

  • App logos: upload a logo and it shows on your dashboard cards, the widget panel header, and your public changelog
  • Widget install page: syntax-highlighted snippets via Shiki, a copy-paste prompt for AI agents, and a live widget preview
  • Breadcrumbs: navigation breadcrumbs across app pages
  • Version stamp: the app version shows in settings

Fixed

  • Checkout redirects and webhook plan sync with Polar
  • Public changelog links now open in a new tab
v1.2.0 Jul 29, 2026

Paid plans, analytics, and widget polish

feature

Subscriptions are here via Polar, product analytics via PostHog, plus a round of widget improvements and UI cleanup.

New

  • Paid plans: subscribe to a plan via Polar checkout; subscription state syncs into Shiplog through webhooks
  • Product analytics: PostHog is wired in to help us understand how the product is used

Improved

  • Widget setup: widget keys and slugs are generated automatically, with clearer install instructions
  • UI cleanup: polish pass across the dashboard and a new favicon

Fixed

  • Widget script source handling at initialization
v1.1.0 Mar 30, 2026

Aurora redesign and GitHub sign-in

improvement

A full visual overhaul with the new aurora design system, proper GitHub OAuth sign-in, and SEO metadata across the site.

The first big polish pass is here.

Improved

  • Aurora design system: the landing page, dashboard, and public changelog pages now share a cohesive dark aurora look
  • Redesigned UI: rebuilt layouts on top of daisyUI themes and new shadcn components
  • SEO metadata: a dedicated SEO component with proper titles and descriptions on public pages

New

  • GitHub sign-in: OAuth sign-in is fully wired up alongside email/password
v1.0.0 Mar 20, 2026
